DATING ADVICE
Things You Should Never Say to a Russian Woman
You’ve been around the dating scene for a while now. You’ve dated many different kinds of women. From introverts to extroverts, to sassy Latinas, and even a few happy-go-lucky Filipinas, this might be your first time dating a Russian woman.
On the outside, she’s beautiful, feminine, and full of curves. But on the inside, she’s warm, not easily swayed by cheap romantic tricks, and knows what she wants. It’s embarrassing to say, but sometimes it feels intimidating to talk to her.
You definitely like her and want to make a lasting impression. She also shows signs she’s interested in you. But you’re anxious you might mess it up by talking about something stupid. Or inadvertently insulting her.
If you feel something like this, then here are a few things you shouldn’t say in front of a Russian woman.
Making fun of Russian stereotypes
Don’t tease her with Russian stereotypes. Even if you think there’s no harm in it, she might likely return a sharp quip about your own country’s stereotypes.
It doesn’t mean she’s a mean person but she definitely won’t allow you to make fun of herself unless she’s okay with it.
You can be certain many Russian women know how to handle a jerk.
Insulting her country
Despite Russia’s rich cultural background, it has a long turbulent history with many conflicts, internal struggles, and war. They have social layers that we might not be used to. Or have their own set of values and manners.
You might have a few strong opinions regarding the state of affairs of her country. And if both of you are still acquaintances, then it’s best to keep those opinions to yourself.
Many Russians are aware of the political flaws of their own country. And they don’t need a foreigner lecturing them on their own country’s issues. Sharing negative opinions about her country is never a good way to start or end a conversation.
Telling her she’s being a prude.
There’s a saying “honesty is the best policy.” But in this situation, telling a Russian woman she’s being a prude will most likely end with bad consequences.
It’s not only an insult to her character but also tells her that you have no inkling of what she’s really like. She may be open-minded about intimacy but will never respond well to your chauvinism. Once you get to know them, they can be one of the most loving, loyal, and strong women you’ll meet.
Safe topics you can talk about with Russian women
Fortunately, there are a plethora of topics you can safely discuss with Russian women — topics that are light and casual, or fun and entertaining.
- Childhood memories. She might appreciate being asked about her childhood memories. Even if all of them weren’t all happy and beautiful, she might still have something memorable to remember.
- Traveling. If traveling is one of her interests, then she might tell you where she’s been or where she wants to go.
- Family. Many Russian women love to talk about their families or if she has any plans to have a future family.
- Hobbies. Being able to talk about her hobbies helps you to know if you’re a good match for each other.
- Movies. Everyone loves watching movies. It’s a safe topic to discuss if the conversation isn’t going well.
